general

Skyr is the traditional yogurt of Iceland that has been made for over 1,000 years. It is a strained nonfat yogurt made by incubating skim milk with live active cultures. The water naturally found in milk, called whey, is strained away to make a much thicker, creamier, and concentrated yogurt. It takes approximately four times the milk to make one cup of siggi’s skyr compared to non-strained yogurt

siggi’s products are made in the US and our skyr is based on an age-old Icelandic recipe.

Yes, all of siggi’s products are certified kosher by the Orthodox Union.

siggi’s products are not certified organic. We source our milk from farms that have pledged not to treat their cows with artificial growth hormones, also known as rBST*. All siggi’s products are all natural, and made without artificial sweeteners or flavors. We keep our ingredient list simple!

*No significant difference has been shown between milk derived from rBST treated and non-rBST treated cows.

According to the international scientific community, probiotics are live and active, friendly bacteria cultures that, when consumed in the right amounts and regularly as part of a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle, may have health benefits to the consumer.

The liquid that can occasionally be found on top of yogurt is whey. Whey is mostly the water in milk/yogurt and can contain some minerals and nutrients including calcium and small amounts of protein. A slight separation of whey from the yogurt is natural and can either be stirred back into the yogurt or poured off.

As yogurt ages, naturally occurring chemical reactions cause the product to change, impacting the texture and flavor of the product. To experience the products at their best, we recommend that you enjoy siggi’s products before the “best before” date, listed on our packaging.

The specks that you see in our vanilla flavored products are small pieces of the vanilla bean.

We currently do not offer any tours of our suppliers’ farms or facilities at this time.

Our goal is to keep sugar to a minimum in our products. siggi’s products are sweetened with cane sugar, organic agave nectar, or Stevia and the added fruit. We do not use any artificial sweeteners or high fructose corn syrup.
