Sales Director East – Grocery

siggi’s dairy is seeking a Sales Director East – Grocery.

We are looking to hire a motivated and ambitious professional with expertise in delivering the best in class retail sales, broker and distribution structure, and management. Develop and deliver short to medium term regional strategies in accordance with the company objectives. Delivery of the volume, revenue, and gross profit targets as agreed in the annual budget process.

Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Achieve annual budgeted sales and profit for the region
  • Build medium term region and account strategy in line with overall company objectives
  • Deliver annual sales, forecast, and promotional plans by account
  • Recommend changes to sales structure and route to market in conjunction with senior management
  • Identify and manage new business opportunities and new ways of working
  • Total responsibility for brokers, distributors, retail chains for region including
    but not limited to:

    • Broker scorecard reviews
    • Monthly ACV targets distribution
    • Monthly distributor updates
    • Broker quarterly reviews
  • Cost Management for region including:
    • Trade spend budget
    • Margin calculator
    • Deduction control
    • Expense report management
    • Broker contract management
  • Annual region business plan
  • Minimum of 2-3 retail headquarter calls per chain per year
  • Market visits with SVP Sales
  • Help organize and participate in 3 annual sales meetings and various trade shows


  • Must be based in Eastern U.S.
  • College degree and authorization to work in the U.S. is required
  • 7-10 years sales experience Grocery East chains (dairy/frozen experience a strong
  • 5+ years of broker management
  • 5+ years of distributor management
  • 3+ years managing people
  • Demonstrable success of managing, influencing people. History in leading and
    becoming an integral part of team.
  • Demonstrable success managing change and growth. Demonstrable ability to analyze
    numbers and create action plans.
  • Ability to break down Nielsen information
  • Formal analytic/sales training with a reputable company
  • Working category management knowledge is a plus
  • Expert presentation skills one-on-one and formalized group setting
  • Excellent skills in the following areas: listening, presentation, negotiation, analysis,
    customer service, selling, communication, organization
  • Proficient in MS Office

Job Summary:

siggi’s Vice President of Sales oversees all Company sales activities in concert with overall Company objectives. Develops strategic sales objectives that will drive yearly budget and operating plan, as well as longer term strategic plan. Manages sales staff to assure a top performing, highly collaborative team. Oversees sales programs for all channels of trade, working closely with Sales Directors, including calling on key customers and leveraging trade and broker relationships to achieve Company sales goals.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement annual sales plan in concert with short and long-term Company strategic objectives; oversees annual sales revenue forecast, as well as sales expense projections, manages monthly budget review for sales department and adjusting operating plan to achieve Company objectives.
  • Deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual sales plans.
  • Works closely with both CEO and CMO to develop effective strategies for all channels of trade to achieve Company profit margin goals, utilizing up to date market data to continually fine tune our story to the marketplace.
  • Develop, recruit, motivate, and retain an effective sales team with the ability to fulfill the growth and revenue goals.
  • Work closely with sales team to motivate and maximize effectiveness of retail broker network.
  • Direct, plan, develop, and establish policies and objectives of the sales function in accordance with the strategic objectives of the organization.
  • Develop and lead a performance and results driven culture.
  • This position requires domestic travel (est. 30 – 40%).

Job Requirements:

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in sales management in the food industry (dairy preferred) with significant exposure to brand-building.
  • Must have recently been the VP of Sales in CPG industry
  • Ideally would have had responsibility for smaller ($150M and below) and larger revenue businesses
  • Experience across multiple channels. Must have grocery and ideally would have some experience with natural, mass, and club.
  • Proven track record growing a fast paced, start-up business with strong customer focus
  • Ability to build a growing sales team, balanced with entrepreneurial skills in solving problems and willingness to ‘roll up sleeves’
  • Strong communication skills; ability to motivate, develop, and build a strong, enthusiastic team.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
